This is not only for kids and young people. Adults young in their heart will love it, too. The story is absolutely thrilling, full of adventure, unexpected twists and well written. I hope the second volume appears soon.

I came across The Burning Sword while searching for a book as a present for my friend's grandson, who is a big Harry Potter and Artemis Fowl fan. He is now a Jackson Bell fan also, and is eagerly awaiting the next book in the series

Bought it as a gift for a young relative to read but ended up dipping into it myself. I was carried away by Jack and his adventure and have since spread the word of how captivating the story is. Well worth the read for both young and older alike.

Great action packed adventure story and I loved the well researched insight into Vikings and Norse mythology and culture.
This book starts with an exciting glimpse into the world of Orcadia, then briefly contrasts with the introduction of the main character Jack in his home Scotland. The book then quickly escalates into an exciting, action packed story, set mainly in the writer's created mythical world. I so enjoyed this book and loved how the writer developed Jack and his growing confidence throughout the book. The introduction of a warrior princess as Jack's trusted ally adds an extra touch of excitement to this book. My neice is asking for book 2 and so am I!!

Thoroughly enjoying reading about Jack's adventures in Orcadia and look forward to following his journey further in subsequent books. Think this would generally appeal to children aged around 9/10 into early teens (although I'm somewhat older than that!!)
Well done to the author for creating a jolly good romp through a believable fantasy world
